In fantasy football, two-star quarterbacks are set to ignite a fiery rivalry that will captivate managers and fans alike. Today, we compare Lamar Jackson, the elusive rushing maestro, against Joe Burrow, the precision-passing prodigy, in a duel for fantasy supremacy.
Jackson has a slightly higher Best Ball ADP (35.5) than Burrow (37.8), according to FantasyPros.
As the echoes of the draft day cheers resonate, managers are left pondering the ultimate question: Who will help them reign supreme this fantasy football season?
On one side stands Lamar Jackson, the enigmatic signal-caller whose feet are as fleet as a gazelle, capable of leaving defenses in disarray as he dances his way to glory. With his dual-threat prowess, Jackson's fantasy potential is off the charts, leaving opponents dreading every Sunday encounter.
Jackson, whose SIC score is 89, is entering the 2023 NFL season healthy, but he hasn't played a full season in two years due to multiple injuries.
The former LSU gunslinger suffered a right calf strain – likely Grade 2 – on July 27 and has not returned to the practice field. Our panel of doctors assert he will play Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, but will have limited mobility and likely remain in the pocket.
Fortunately for fantasy, his rushing ability is not his main draw. This season, the bigger worry will be the health of his offensive line.
Burrow will start the season with a backup RT in Jonah Williams. Starting RT La'el Collins is recovering from a multi-ligament knee injury that will likely keep him out of his RT role until halfway through the season. This is Williams' first time playing RT full-time for the Bengals.
When comparing the two, it ultimately depends on your fantasy football draft strategy and preferences. Lamar Jackson will be the choice if you prefer a quarterback with a rushing upside and a higher floor due to rushing yards. On the other hand, if you prioritize a more traditional pocket passer with strong passing potential, Joe Burrow would be the preferred option.
