The 49ers have suffered so many injuries at running back that they claimed a running back that the Ravens released after Week 1. Trenton Cannon even got a carry for San Francisco in Week 2 after three running backs suffered injuries in the fourth quarter against the Eagles. Second-year back JaMycal Hasty reportedly suffered a high-ankle sprain to his left ankle in the fourth quarter and will miss at least next week against the Packers. Rookie running backs Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon were also injured in the fourth quarter. By video, Mitchell was hit on his right shoulder by Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards on a goal line carry. The former Louisiana running back returned on the next offensive series and finished the game. He reportedly suffered a stinger and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan said Mitchell is day-to-day. We are confident that Mitchell will play in Week 3, but there is a chance of reaggravation. Shanahan also said Sermon is in the concussion protocol, thus his status for Sunday is undetermined. Before the latest slew of injuries, the 49ers wee already down Raheem Mostert and veteran back Jeff Wilson Jr., who suffered a meniscus tear in the offseason.
