Mike McGlinchey, the 49ers right tackle, reportedly suffered a torn quad muscle in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals and will miss the rest of the season. McGlinchey was hurt in the second quarter and was ruled out with a knee injury. We didn't see much on his last play, but it was reported Monday that he suffered a torn quad.
If McGlinchey tore a tendon, it would mean surgery and a tight recovery timeline for next season. If it is a quad muscle tear, surgery would not be required, but it would have to be a significant tear to keep him out the rest of the season. Either way, the 49ers will have to replace him on the right side of the line. Tom Compton seems like the immediate replacement, but rookie left tackle Jaylon Moore could also be called on to switch sides. The 3-5 49ers play the 7-2 Rams next Monday night.
