Milwaukee Brewers starter Corbin Burnes exited Monday’s start with apparent discomfort on his left side. After the game, Burnes revealed he had a pec strain and the team said it’s believed to be minor.
If all goes well in the next few days, there’s hope he can avoid the 15-day IL given that the injury was to his non-throwing side.
Left Monday’s start with a right shin contusion after he was hit by a comebacker. Greene finished the inning, but exited before the top of the fourth.
Team may push his next start back a day but he will more than likely not hit the IL.
The Rangers’ oft-injured free agent acquisition is reportedly dealing with right wrist soreness that caused him to leave Monday’s game. deGrom had a no-hitter going in the fifth inning when he left, but downplayed the exit after the game.
He said he thought the wrist would loosen up as he pitched, but it tightened on him and he chose to exit as a precaution.
Dodgers catcher Will Smith was placed on the 7-day concussion IL after experiencing concussion-like symptoms during the team’s off-day last Thursday.
Smith took three foul balls off the mask during the April 11 game against the Giants.
He is eligible to return this Thursday and should have no lingering effects.
The bulky Yankees outfielder was placed on the 10-day IL on Sunday and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain.
Given his lengthy history of previous left hamstring issues, he may require closer to six weeks.
Harrison Bader, currently on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain that has kept him out for the early part of the season, should be back in the next few weeks to help fill the void in the outfield.
Carrasco is off to a rough start to the 2023 season with an 8.56 ERA across three starts. Now, he's heading for a minimum 15-day absence for right elbow inflammation.
The key to his return will be finding the cause of the inflammation. Elbow injuries for an aging pitcher are never a good sign.
