Advantage: Lakers
Anthony Davis' return to the Lakers couldn't have come any later for LeBron and co, as Los Angeles moved back to .500 with a 10-point win over the Nets on Tuesday night.
James, Davis, and Russell Westbrook will be playing together for only the 17th time this season when they battle Joel Embiid and the 76ers in Philadelphia.
Davis will get a true test of the sprained left MCL that kept him out for 17 games against the dominant Embiid, who has been scoring at a point-per-minute rate not seen since Wilt Chamberlain in 1952.
Since they had a Dec. 19 contest postponed, the 76ers are 13-4, and Embiid has led the team in scoring in all 17 games and in rebounding in 10.
However, the secondary scoring options that surround the 27-year-old – specifically Seth Curry and Shake Milton – will be lacking on Thursday.
Curry, who is averaging 15.8 points on 41.7% shooting on 3-pointers, has been ruled out with a sore left ankle that has bothered him for a week.
Milton, meanwhile, has been out since Jan. 3 with a lower back injury.
The guards are 4th and 5th on the team in scoring per game, leaving Tyrese Maxey and Furkan Korkmaz to handle a greater offensive load.
One big potential addition will be Danny Green, who was upgraded to questionable for the contest. He has missed 11 of the last 16 games, the previous 7 with a right hip injury.
