Each week, we summarize the top injury insights to give you the edge in fantasy baseball and wagering. Our insights page is updated throughout the week and can be found here.
All eyes in New York will be trained on the status of Aaron Judge over the next few days. He’s scheduled to get an X-ray when the team returns to New York on Monday.
Judge injured his right big toe while making a running catch in the outfield against the Dodgers on Saturday. He remained in the game, which is a good sign, but was not in the lineup on Sunday.
By video, the Pro Baseball Docs do not believe Judge suffered a broken right toe during his collision with the wall.
The Yankees cannot afford to miss Judge for any more time this season. He required a 10-day IL stint in early May for a right hip injury but still leads the American League with 19 home runs.
Manager Dusty Baker said he “felt something” in his oblique on an awkward swing Friday night. He did not play the remainder of the weekend, but the team has not detailed whether he will need an IL stint.
His availability in the short term does not look great, but if he did strain his oblique it’s not high-grade/
The oblique muscle is crucial for providing power on swings, thus Altuve will likely require at least a few days more rest before rejoining the lineup.
The Padres’ star shortstop has been battling a left wrist injury lately that kept him out of the lineup on Sunday.
After a sizzling start in March and April, Boegarts hit .200 with 1 home run in May.
Bogaerts said he’s hoping to avoid an IL stint but may need another few days rest before returning.
Correa’s plantar fasciitis flared up again last Thursday and kept him out of the lineup all weekend. Given the nature of his injury, his mobility is unlikely to improve without an IL stint.
The 28-year-old shortstop is hitting .207 with 6 home runs this season in 50 games.
Reds manager David Bell said Greene is dealing with stiffness in his hip and will have his next start pushed back a few days as a result.
The issue doesn’t appear serious at the moment, but is worth monitoring for the young flamethrower.
Greene pitched 6 innings with 1 earned run, 2 hits, 3 walks and 8 strikeouts in his June 1 outing against Boston.
The oft-injured Twins center fielder took a fastball to the ribs on Thursday but thankfully did not break anything.
His return will be based on pain tolerance and he could return to the lineup as early as Tuesday against Tampa Bay.
Buxton is hitting .220 with 10 home runs in 50 games this season.
Cole, the top fantasy pitcher, exited his most recent start with 80 pitches due to cramping in his leg. The issue should not affect his next start and the Pro Baseball Docs have no concerns about his availability going forward.
Cole is 7-0 with a 2.82 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 13 starts this season.
The young Tampa Bay Rays shortstop has not played since Friday, when he felt a “slight grab” in his hamstring.
Manager Kevin Cash will likely be cautious in easing him back into the lineup, but it doesn’t sound like Franco requires an IL stint at this time.
The Yankees’ lefty will hit the 15-day IL due to lingering sickness in his shoulder between starts. Manager Aaron Boone has been optimistic he will only miss the minimum time on IL, but that will depend on the cause of the soreness.
Cortes is scheduled to get an MRI in the coming days when the team returns to New York.
