Aaron Judge Injury: How Long Will Hip Injury Sideline Reigning MVP?

New York Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge was pulled from Thursday’s game with a right hip injury, a day after he injured it on an awkward slide into third base.

By video, Judge is likely dealing with a hip contusion resulting from his slide, according to the Pro Baseball Docs. He is unlikely to be placed on the 10-day IL. but it makes sense the team is playing it cautious with the reigning AL MVP.

On Friday, the team announced that he will undergo an MRI on the hip, but that MRI will likely come back clean with no ligament damage.

After Thursday’s game, Judge told reporters he felt a “little grab in the hip area” during his second at-bat and his whole right side was tight after his slide on Wednesday.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the team will take it day-by-day with the reigning AL MVP.

He is unlikely to play the rest of the weekend against the Rangers, but could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday if the MRI comes back clean.

The Yankees (15-11) conclude a four-game series with the Rangers on Sunday, then head back to the Bronx for a three-game series against the Guardians.

Judge is hitting .261 with 6 home runs and 14 RBIs to start the year.

New York Yankees World Series Odds

New York currently has the fifth-best odds to win the World Series at +1000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The team is currently in fourth place in the AL East, but have the second best odds to win the division at +270. The Rays (21-5) have the best odds at -130.
