Aaron Rodgers Nursing Toe Injury, Expected To Start Versus Rams

With Packers star quarterback out of quarantine, the questions have turned from his vaccination status to the health of his toe.

Rodgers has been coy in his responses about the toe injury, but recently revealed on the Pat McAfee show that he is dealing with a "bone issue" in his pinky toe. He told reporters Wednesday that he is dealing with a fractured pinky toe and he showed his left foot on the Zoom call.

The fact that the star quarterback is not dealing with a big toe issue is a great sign, as the pinky toe is minimally used in the throwing motion compared to the big toe.

That explains why he had a passer rating of 148.4 in the loss to the Vikings last Sunday and had no problem connecting on deep throws. We do not believe the injury is a fifth metatarsal Jones fracture, as that would involve the base of the toe and not the toe itself.

Rodgers should continue to play effectively, although he may miss practice time ahead of a key matchup with the 7-3 Rams.
