Adam Thielen Will Miss Thursday Matchup Against Steelers, Chance To Return Week 15

Adam Thielen, the veteran Vikings wide receiver, is trending toward missing Thursday night's matchup against the Steelers. Thielen suffered a high ankle sprain at the start of Sunday's loss to the Lions and did not return to the game.

ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, projects Thielen's ankle will not be ready in time for the matchup against Pittsburgh. The 31-year-old also may not be ready for the Week 15 Monday night matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Thielen uses his speed and cutting ability to get open, meaning he will need full use of his ankle to be effective. His timeline depends on how his ankle responds to treatment for the swelling, thus his status for Week 15 will depend on how quickly he can get back on the practice field.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook will also be out Week 14, but has a better chance to return Week 15. Cook suffered a dislocated shoulder Week 13 against the 49ers and Alexander Mattison has taken over his role. Rookie rusher Kene Nwangwu is also in line for more work with Cook out.
