Phillies fans got a scare Monday night after Bryce Harper grimaced and grabbed his elbow after a throw to the plate in the top of the 7th inning.
Harper finished the game and manager Joe Girardi said after the comeback with that Harper's elbow was OK.
The ProBaseballDocs detailed Monday why Harper's injury is not considered a long-term issue, but he could miss a day or two.
If he had torn or damaged his UCL, his throw would not have reached the plate. Instead, it reached to plate on one bounce.
With the implementation of the universal DH, putting Harper there is also an option for Girardi.
However, the Phillies' other outfield options cannot replicate the 2021 MVP's defensive ability.
Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos are known for their bat, not their glove.
With Odubel Herrera and Mickey Moniak both on the 10-day IL, Matt Vierling and Johan Camargo are the only other outfield options.
FanDuel has Harper priced at $4,100 and projected to hit third in the batting order today against New York.
The Phillies are 1.5-run favorites with Zach Wheeler on the mound and the over/under is 8.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Update
Harper is starting at DH against the Mets today and batting third. Símon Muzziotti will start in center field with Schwarber and Castellanos completing the outfield.
