Alvin Kamara Injury: RB Likely To Play Through Rib Issue

When Alvin Kamara was a non-participant in practice on Thursday and Friday, all Saints fans and fantasy football owners' eyes opened wide.

Kamara is battling a rib injury sustained in the team’s week one matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Even though Kamara didn’t break his ribs, he possibly has a rib cartilage injury.

Despite missing the last two days of practice, Kamara should be able to play through the injury and be effective, according to the Pro Football Docs.

If Kamara is in a lot of pain prior to the game, the team and Kamara could opt to give him a rib block injection to numb the pain.

Look for Kamara to have a bounce-back game in the rushing and receiving game as the team faces their rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kamara’s SIC Score this week is 88, which means he should be able to produce at 88% of his pre-injury level.

He logged a limited practice on Wednesday, then he and the team likely opted to rest his ribs the next two days.

His last game wasn’t desirable even if Kamara could play. He had 12 touches (9 runs, 3 catches) for 46 yards averaging 4.3 on the ground and a lowly 2.3 through the air. He didn’t contribute much to the Saint’s comeback victory against the Falcons. The leading rusher for the Saints was Jack-of-all -trades Taysom Hill, with 81 yards and a touchdown.

Buccaneers vs Saints Week 2 Odds

The Saints are 2.5 point underdogs at home versus the Buccaneers, and the O/U is 44.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
