Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was a limited participant in Lions’ practice on Wednesday after being placed in concussion protocol due to showing outward signs of a traumatic brain injury last week.
According to the Pro Football Docs, St. Brown’s early return to practice and reported lack of symptoms are both strong indicators that Detroit’s top wideout avoided a concussion and will be available against the Dolphins.
The second-year wideout was sent off the field by a referee and immediately ruled out when he took a big hit, shook his head, and was off-balance on a four-year bubble screen in the first quarter.
Despite showing no other reported concussion symptoms, “shaking off the cobwebs” and gross motor instability, no matter what extent, are both no-go symptoms outlined in the updated concussion protocols.
St. Brown has 28 receptions for 275 yards and three scores in five games and missed Week 4 with an ankle injury.
Lions' running back D'Andre Swift was a full participant on Wednesday for the first time since Week 3 and the Docs said he should also be in line to return against the Dolphins without limitations.
Swift, who gained 308 total yards with three touchdowns on 8.8 yards per touch, has missed the last three games with ankle and shoulder injuries.
After averaging 32.75 in their first four games, the Lions have scored a combined six points on two field goals while committing seven turnovers in the last two games versus the Patriots and Cowboys.
