Chargers tight end Donald Parham Jr. suffered a concussion in the back of the end zone early in the 1st quarter tonight.
We do not believe that Parham suffered a neck or spine injury, and anticipate – and hope – that he will make a full recovery.
Parham landed hard on an incomplete pass before the broadcast zoomed in on him appearing stiff and unresponsive. The medical team lifted him out on a spine board before taking him to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to reports.
We are confident that a concussion is the extent of the injury. A significant enough concussion can cause posturing and labored breathing, which the broadcast caught on camera, causing increased concern for Parham. The hospitalization is likely to get a CT scan to rule out internal bleeding.
