Angels Injury Report: David Fletcher To Miss Significant Time After Adductor Surgery

The Angels will have to find a new everyday option at second base for at least the next two months of the season as second baseman David Fletcher recovers from bilateral adductor surgery.

David Fletcher Injury Update

The 27-year-old has not played since Saturday and was off to a dismal start at the plate, hitting .158 in 38 at bats this season.

Fletcher missed 15 games in mid-April with the adductor issue. He reportedly got multiple cortisone injections, but it didn't remedy the problem.

He will hit the 60-day IL and an early August return would be good news, according to the Pro Baseball Docs. When performing surgery on an adductor it is common to address both sides.

Fletcher will surely require a rehab stint before returning, but he should be back before the end of the season.

Injury Impact on Angels

Jack Mayfield and Luis Rengifo will likely platoon at second base until Fletcher is back.

Mayfield is hitting .226 in 18 games this season, while Rengifo was recently called up to take Fletchers place on the roster.

Angels World Series Odds

Currently 21-11, the Angels are +2000 to win the World Series and are +195 to win the AL West, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
