Oft-injured Lakers star Anthony Davis went down once again on Wednesday night, suffering a sprained right ankle late in the 2nd quarter that ended his night.
Davis went down with 3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter after splitting his legs and landing awkwardly on a rebound. The 28-year-old went down clutching his lower right leg and had to be carried off the floor.
Because of the violent appearance of the injury, immediate concern was of a fracture and/or dislocation, but initial x-rays came back negative, according to reports.
Tonight's game vs the Jazz is the Lakers' last in the first half, and Davis will be re-evaluated after the all-star break, which ends on Feb. 25 against the Clippers.
The 8-time all-star has missed 21 games this season with a combination of knee and wrist issues, and has played in only 73 of a possible 130 games the last 2 seasons.
Davis endured a similar injury scare earlier this season: in the first half on Dec. 17 against the Timberwolves, Davis rolled his ankle violently and had to be helped off the court. He later returned to the game, and suffered the mcl sprain that kept him out for 17 games.
