Washington running back Antonio Gibson played through a shin injury he suffered last week in practice, but is now reportedly dealing with a stress fracture. Even though the shin injury is classified as minor and he can play through it, this is something that is of a significant worry. The stress fracture will not heal throughout this entire season and is something that he will have to deal with. It's likely that he will be limited in practice throughout the year and the team will have to monitor his usage. This is not good news for Washington. The best hope is the team can manage the stress fracture and wait to have it heal over months in the offseason. Surgery is ultimately an option as well, but is less likely until the year is over. This is significantly bad news and different than the "bruised shin" as it was characterized before. If the stress fracture gets worse, Gibson would likely require season-ending surgery.
