Astros Injury Report: Jose Altuve Evaluated for Concussion After Collision

Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was removed from Monday's game and is reportedly undergoing a concussion evaluation after a collision at first base.

Jose Altuve Injury Report

Altuve chopped a grounder to third base in the 7th inning and was hustling down the line when A's first baseman Christian Bethancourt jumped for the errant throw and landed right on top of him.

The 32-year-old appeared to take an elbow to the forehead in the collision and both players remained on the ground for awhile before remaining in the game.

Altuve was removed an inning later and manager Dusty Baker told reporters it was because he didn't like the way Altuve looked in the dugout.

Baker also said he's made two lineups for Tuesday night's game - one with Altuve and one without.

Concussions are difficult to judge by video, but Baker's postgame comments are not encouraging.

The Pro Baseball Docs would be pleasantly surprised if Altuve can avoid the 7-day injured list, specifically for players dealing with concussion symptoms.

Mauricio Dubon would likely start at second base if Altuve is unavailable.
