The Hawks – are finally fully healthy with no entries on the injury report but continue to be inconsistent, going 7-6 this month while staying at a mediocre 36-37 this season.
Trae Young missed Friday’s win over the Grizzlies with a quad contusion he likely suffered in a 9-point, 15-assist performance the game before, but is otherwise averaging 28.6 points and 9.5 assists on .462/.393./.905 splits since the calendar turned to 2021.
The Hawks lost their last game, a back-to-back against the Pistons, but are an entirely different team on 1 day of rest, going 25-19 on the season while scoring 114.3 points on 47.4% shooting from the field and 38.1% from behind the arc.
Bogdan Bogdanovic is a streaky shooter but has been in the zone lately, scoring 21.6 points on 44.7% shooting in his last 5. Kevin Huerter, meanwhile, has struggled, posting 7 points on 32.4% shooting over his last 6 games.
The Warriors - remain without Stephen Curry, who will likely miss the final 9 games of the regular season with a foot sprain he suffered last Wednesday against the Celtics, but are otherwise as healthy as they have been all year.
Golden State, 48-25, is an abysmal 3-6 without Curry this season while scoring 107.1 points per game, down from their season average of 111 points per game. The 34-year-old posted a season-high 50 points with 10 assists on 9 threes against the Hawks in early November.
Golden State lost 2 straight games against the Spurs and Magic, both lottery teams, and averaged 95.33 points in consecutive losses to Boston, San Antonio, and Orlando.
Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr., and Draymond Green all recently returned from extended absences and are expected to play, while Andre Iguodala is questionable with back and hip ailments that have kept him off the floor for each of the last 19, and 28 of the last 30, games.
Green, Klay Thompson, Iguodala, and Porter Jr. each sat out in the Warriors’ surprising 118-104 win in Miami on Wednesday night, and will come into Friday’s contest on 5 days of rest.
Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins each started and scored 22 points, while Jordan Poole added 30 and 9 assists on 18 shots. Poole will be the Warriors’ starting points guard primary ball-handler in Curry’s absence.
The shifty, 3rd-year isolation maven is averaging 25.6 points and 4.9 assists on .546/.505/.883 shooting splits over the last 11 games.
Potential Plays:
Hawks -3 - The Hawks are the much healthier squad going into the matchup, Warriors will be without Curry for 4th straight game
Klay Thompson O21.5 Total Points - With Curry out expect more scoring for the sharpshooter who should be the Warriors leading scoring in what should be a high scoring affair
De'Andre Hunter O13.5 Total Points - Hunter has been relied on more to score with John Collins still out, cleared this prop number 9 times this month
