When the Chargers running back was injured, even collapsing in pain, before getting carted off we indicated a significant hamstring injury. Turns out there was a knee hyperextension as well, but we considered the knee issue to be minor. There are media reports that suggest Ekeler will miss four-to-six weeks while recovering from this injury. When the injury occurred, we talked about the possibility of a hamstring avulsion off the bone and this sometimes needs surgery. Ekeler admitted to some of the tendon being ripped off the bone. Putting the fact pattern together, our analysis is that Ekeler tore his hamstring off partially, which fits with him having trouble sitting which he discussed. It is not completely ripped off the bone and surgery is not necessary. We would peg his return closer to eight weeks than four to six.
