Austin Ekeler, the Chargers star running back, missed his second straight practice Friday with a hip injury. With the Chargers coming off a bye, he was full practice on Wednesday then missed the next two days. We did not see any injury during the Week 6 game. Head coach Brandon Staley was quoted as saying that he was sore after Wednesday practice, thus they gave him two days of rest and Staley is hopeful of Ekeler playing at this point.
Right now we don't have enough information to determine his status. Certainly there are concerns here, but we have to take what the team is saying at face value. Given there is no other additional information. Given Ekeler's history and social media presence perhaps he will reveal what his issue is and whether he will play. The Chargers host the Patriots and will be down to Joshua Kelley, Justin Jackson and Larry Rountree III if Ekeler can't play.
