Austin Ekeler Will Be Ineffective Versus Chiefs If Active

Austin Ekeler, the second best fantasy RB in 2021 (only behind the Colts Jonathan Taylor), is nursing a high ankle injury he suffered last week versus the New York Giants. When the injury initially occurred, we believed it would be hard for him to return to the game regardless of the tape job that was rigorously done soon after. On top of saying he wouldn't return Sunday, we postulated that it would be very difficult for him to recover in time to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday. Head coach Brandon Staley was optimistic saying Ekeler is dealing with "soreness" in the ankle but we believe there is more going with the ankle that just soreness. Where there is a high ankle component, there can be a good amount of swelling  and managing this will be key. Although he logged an LP, we have worries on how effective he can really be on such a quick turnaround and if active will share carries with Justin Jackson and Joshua Kelley while being limited in the passing game.
