Azeez Al-Shaair, the 49ers starting strongside linebacker, suffered a left arm injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Bengals. By video, Al-Shaair attempted to tackle Joe Mixon in the open field, but missed and landed hard on his left elbow. He went to the medical tent and was later ruled out with an elbow injury.
Based on the injury mechanism on the missed tackle, we have worry for a left distal biceps tendon rupture. Typically, this requires surgery, but there have been examples where players delay the procedure until after the season. Marcell Harris will likely fill in for Al-Shaair at weakside linebacker.
