Entering Super Bowl 54, both teams are very healthy. In fact, both San Francisco and Kansas City will have all 53 men to choose from. For the 49ers, this will include running back Tevin Coleman, who dislocated his shoulder just two weeks ago. He may not be at 100% but will indeed play. Linebacker Kwon Alexander, who returned from a pectoral surgery, will also play at likely less than a full 100%. For Kansas City, expect Travis Kelce and Chris Jones to be themselves and therefore be effective. As the Super Bowl nears, remember, both teams did battle through injuries of their own this season. Obviously the Chiefs and entire NFL felt nervous when star quarterback Patrick Mahomes disclosed his knee cap, but the former MVP battled back and is playing at a very high level. We will monitor any news on him after the season, regarding his knee. His teammate, Damien Williams has rushed the ball effectively as of late, but missed quite some time with a rib and knee issues before the playoffs began. The Chiefs defense played games without Emmanuel Ogbah, Frank Clark, Chris Jones and Alex Okafor. Meanwhile the 49ers dealt with key losses all season. Jerick McKinnon was lost for the year early, Alexander missed eight games with the previously mentioned pec surgery, Dee Ford was on the injury report all season, and Joe Staley missed six games with a broken leg and finger. Don’t forget tight end George Kittle, who missed two games and has been playing through a torn labrum and chip fracture in his ankle. These injuries will be in the back of some minds, as Super Bowl 54 promises to be a good one between two healthy teams. As always, we will follow the game closely for any and all injuries.
