The worst case scenario has come true. Big Ben will undergo season ending elbow surgery and will have no chance for return this year. The surgery is to reconstruct his ulnar collateral ligament. This "Tommy John" surgery is common in pitchers but less so in QBs due to a different throwing motion and torque on the elbow. It typically take about a full year to recover which means there could be implication for the 2020 season. With this surgery, it is common to move the ulnar nerve in order to prevent associated neurological issues. See the accompanying video for more detailed information.
