Team said he will be re-evaluated in late November for his lower back nerve impingement - concerning as this isn't the first time he's missed games with a back issue - great result would be a return in early December.
The Nets' 6-foot-10 guard missed the entire 2021-22 season with a similar back injury.
He was limited to 57 games in 2019-20 because of another nerve impingement in his back.
In March 2022 he received an epidural in an attempt to get him back on the court for the playoffs, but he was unable to return by late April.
There's no exact timeline for his return at the moment and this is not a condition that gets better over time, according to the Pro Basketball Docs.
Simmons is averaging 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 6.7 assists in 6 games this season. He's shooting 52.8% from the field and 25% from the free throw line.
Lonnie Walker IV will likely get more time with Simmons out.
