Two months after their surprise Super Bowl run the Bengals are still the talk of the town in Cincinnati, and star receiver Tee Higgins spurred more conversation when he appeared at the Reds' home opener Tuesday in a sling.
Higgins is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery to repair a labrum injury in his left arm. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero broke news of the surgery after images of Higgins in a sling surfaced, adding that he is expected to be ready “well before” training camp this summer. Higgins was already in a sling during an appearance at a local youth football camp on March 28.
The 23-year-old missed 2 games with a shoulder injury early in the season and likely suffered the labrum injury in Week 2. He went on to put together a productive sophomore season, catching 74 passes for 1,091 yards and 6 touchdowns and capping the season with 2 touchdowns in the Super Bowl, including a 75-yarder.
