Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was removed from Tuesday's game in the eighth inning with right elbow discomfort that is expected to keep him out of the lineup on Wednesday.
George Springer Injury Update
Toronto manager Charlie Montoyo relayed that Springer has been nursing the right elbow issue which was part of the reason he was the DH tonight. There is no clear indication of if he will be placed on the IL.
Springer is likely to undergo an MRI to assess the ailment. Lingering elbow soreness is always concerning as it often signals deeper ligament or muscle damage.
The numbers appear to back up the lingering pain: Over the last seven games the 32-year-old is batting 2-26 with one run, one RBI, and 10 strikeouts.
Overall, Springer is batting .260 with an .823 OPS while notching 13 home runs, 26 extra-base hits, 40 runs, and 34 runs in 235 at-bats.
Raimel Tapia, Bradley Zimmer, and Otto Lopez platooned to cover centerfield on Tuesday and would continue to do so if Springer misses time.
