Blue Jays Injury Report: George Springer Returns to Lineup 2 Days After Ankle Injury

Blue Jays star center fielder George Springer is back in the lineup today, two days after he suffered a left ankle injury attempting to catch a ball at the wall.

Springer will serve as the designated hitter and lead off for Toronto against the Tampa Bay Rays and lefty starter Jeffrey Springs.

The 32-year-old's quick return to the lineup matches projections from the Pro Baseball Docs, as detailed on Saturday.

Springer has a history of left ankle sprains, meaning he likely didn't do much new damage when he turned his ankle on Friday.

The former Astro is hitting .278 with 7 home runs and 18 RBIs in 32 games this season, but is hitting just .229 with 1 home run in May.

Blue Jays World Series Odds

With Alex Manoah on the mound, the Blue Jays are favored by 1.5 runs in Tampa Bay today and the over/under is 7.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Toronto, 18-16, is +310 to win the AL East and +1000 to win the World Series.
