Bradley Chubb Likely Headed For IR Stint, Undergoing Surgery To Remove Bone Spur In Ankle

We indicated when Chubb did not finish the Week 2 contest with the same ankle issue that has bothering him for weeks, that he was unlikely to play Week 3. There needed to be a reassessment on how he could get healthy and that reassessment comes in the form of an ankle arthroscopy which was announced by the Denver Broncos. There is a bone spur in his ankle that will be removed. This surgery does carry a short recovery timeline, but Chubb undoubtedly will be placed on IR and miss three weeks. The hope is, he could come back in approximately a month or so and be the dominant edge rusher opposite Von Miller again. It is fair to ask why this wasn't done earlier in the offseason, but we are sure as the full story is elucidated, we will figure out the decision making process. At this point in time, better to cut losses and get back to full health for the middle/second half of the season, then allow this to continue to linger.
