The Redskins starting right guard was engaging a block when his knee was rolled up on. In the live video he appears to suffer a significant right knee injury, likely a high grade MCL sprain with risk to his ACL as well. He will go on IR and miss a minimum of the three week absence which could be significantly extended depending on the associated ligament damage other than the MCL, and the status of that ACL. Scherff was the keystone in Washington's line, and their ability to push the middle and stuff interior pass rushers will be stunted without him in the lineup. Head Coach Ron Rivera has seemingly confirmed that the ACL has been spared and this will result in a IR stint rather than a long term absence. This is good news for a Washington team struggling to find any.
