Forty-Niners rookie quarterback Brock Purdy was ruled questionable to return after he suffered a right arm injury on his wild fumble with 7:03 left in the NFC Championship game.
Purdy's right elbow injury mechanism is consistent with a UCL sprain and similar to Josh Allen's elbow injury earlier this season, according to the Pro Football Docs.
If he can return, the Docs assert, Mr. Irrelevant would be limited to throwing short and behind the line of scrimmage because of the damage to his elbow ligaments.
Purdy hasn't been ruled out and has continued to receive treatment and attempt to stay warm on the sideline with his helmet on.
Journeyman backup Josh Johnson, the 49ers' fourth quarterback this season, replaced Purdy on the next two drives and would play for the remainder of the game.
Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo each remain out from season-ending lower-leg fractures, pushing the rookie Purdy under center for San Francisco's last six regular season games and the playoffs.

Now out. Worry for elbow UCL like Josh Allen earlier this season.
#BrockPurdy hit during cocking phase but appears to avoid injury.
