Jack Conklin, the Browns starting right tackle, left the game early in the second quarter with an injured forearm. By video, Conklin was on the ground in a pile when center J.C. Tretter inadvertently stepped on his left forearm. Conklin walked off the field, then went to the locker room while training staff was holding his left arm. He has been ruled out for the game with what the team called an elbow injury. We believe there is a significant chance of a fracture in his left forearm. If an X-ray confirms the fracture, he would likely be placed on IR.
Seven-year veteran Blake Hance will fill in at right tackle. Hance will have the rough assignment of facing star Steelers defender T.J. Watt.
Update
After the game, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Conklin suffered a dislocated elbow. An IR stint is on the table for Conklin, as the typical return for elbow dislocations is 3-4 weeks.
