The Browns' running back room is in flux after positive COVID-19 tests for both Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton on Tuesday. The two backs – who are both vaccinated – will need to be asymptomatic and produce two negative tests over a 24-hour period before they can return to the team ahead of the week 10 matchup with the Patriots. Cleveland, who just ransacked the Bengals on way to a 41-16 victory to move them to 5-4, has struggled with running back health in recent weeks and are currently down to only 25-year-old D'Ernest Johnson.
Chubb missed the Browns' week seven win with a calf injury, in which Johnson ran for 146 yards and one touchdown in a memorable Thursday night performance. Johnson has been thrust into a more prominent role in the absence of Kareem Hunt, who was placed on IR on Oct. 19 with a calf strain. The Browns' offense is abnormally dependent on the rushing attack, especially after the recent release of Odell Beckham Jr. and quarterback Baker Mayfield's injury to his non-throwing shoulder.
