Charlie McAvoy was placed in COVID-19 protocol less than an hour ahead of today's game.
Josh Brown, a defenseman acquired from Ottawa at the trade deadline, was activated for the game.
Under NHL COVID-19 protocols, players are required to isolate for five days then are allowed to return if they produce a negative test and are asymptomatic.
Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Raleigh and a possible Game 6 is scheduled for Thursday in Boston.
McAvoy has finished in the top 10 of the Norris Trophy voting in each of the past two seasons. This season, he had career highs of 10 goals and 46 assists
