Bryce Harper Injury: Reigning MVP Returning to Phillies

Phillies' manager Rob Thompson announced that star DH Bryce Harper will be activated from the 10-day IL and re-join the lineup on Friday.

Bryce Harper Injury Update

After the extended absence that spanned nearly nine weeks, Harper's fractured left thumb should be thoroughly healed.

The 30-year-old is, however, still experiencing soreness from his torn right UCL that will keep him limited to everyday DH, but won't diminish his production at the plate.

Harper missed 52 games with the fractured left thumb he suffered on June 25 and the Phillies went 32-20 in that span.

Before the injury, Harper was on a tear, batting .353 with five home runs, 16 RBI, and 15 runs in his last 20 games.

With 37 games left Philadelphia is 70-55, 9.5 games behind the Mets in the AL East and securely in the second NL Wild Card spot.
