Buccaneers Place Carlton Davis On IR With Quad Strain

Tampa Bay placed cornerback Carlton Davis III on IR Thursday after he suffered a significant left quad strain last Sunday. Davis will miss at least the team's next three games and be eligible to return Week 8 against the Saints. Given how important the quad is for acceleration, we wouldn't be surprised to see Davis return after the team's Week 9 bye. Buccaneers first-string corner Sean Murphy-Bunting remains on IR with a dislocated elbow. Third-string corner Jamel Dean was limited Wednesday with a knee injury that caused him to miss Week 4. We believe Dean has a good chance to play this week. If all three aren't available to face the Dolphins, Tampa Bay will be down to Ross Cockrell, Dee Delaney and Pierre Desir at corner.
