Injury Advantage: Chiefs Pass Offense
The Bills sole absence in the starting defensive lineup puts them at a disadvantage against Patrick Mahomes and his flock of receiving targets.
Buffalo’s No. 1 corner Tre’Davious White tore his ACL on Thanksgiving, leaving Taron Johnson and Levi Wallace to fill the void.
Both have fared well in coverage despite his absence and the Bills defense allowed the least passing yards this season. In fact, since White’s injury, the Bills allowed just two passing performances over 275 yards.
Safety tandem Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer were big parts of filling that gap and both are healthy for the playoffs.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, ranked fourth in the league in total passing yards and have speedy wideout Tyreek Hill and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce healthy.
The Bills allowed the least third-down conversions this season, while the Chiefs converted the most third downs of any team.
Secondary Advantage: Bills Run Defense
Clyde-Edwards Helaire will play for the first time since suffering an AC joint sprain Week 16 against the Steelers. His shoulder injury shouldn’t bother him anymore, but he may have some rust associated with sitting the last three games.
Backup running back Darrel Williams is questionable to play in the Divisional Round after a toe injury limited him to just one carry in the Wildcard win over the Steelers.
Former Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon had a big game against Pittsburgh last week and figures to be involved in the running and passing game again.
Buffalo, on the other hand, has its starting defensive line and linebackers healthy.
Backup defensive end Mario Addison is the sole player listed on the injury report for the Bills, but will play through his shoulder injury.
