Byron Buxton Returns From Right Knee Soreness, Will DH For Twins

Star centerfielder Byron Buxton will make his return to the Twins lineup on Wednesday after missing the last five games with right knee soreness.

Buxton, who has an extensive history of significant injuries and setbacks during rehab, will bat leadoff but as DH against veteran Royals ace Zack Greinke.

Buxton left Minnesota's loss to the Red Sox on April 15 after appearing to suffer a right knee injury while sliding into second base after a bloop base hit.

The ProBaseballDocs opined at the time he didn't appear to suffer any significant ligament damage and an MRI confirmed he was dealing with soreness potentially caused by tendonitis. Minnesota announced it expected Buxton to miss one week and he is back in the batters box just before that mark.

The 28-year-old has three home runs, three doubles, four RBI, and five runs with a 1.058 OPS in 24 at-bats this season.
