Panthers say they are sticking with they are starting quarterback Cam Newton for now. Last week, owner David Tepper said I am not a doctor and "is he healthy?" when asked about Cam. The team doesn't seem to have a choice right now whether they really want him as their starter or not. Newton cannot be cleared from December lisfranc surgery in March and will get his Panthers roster bonus / guarantee. One cannot be released when injured and it is difficult to trade an injured player. We anticipate that Newton will get healthy for the 2020 season but for now the Panthers options are limited to keeping him. Let's see what the future brings as the draft and free agency are quickly approaching.
