In an uninspired loss on Thursday night football, questions emerged about Cam Newton's shoulder and foot. It was certainly the most lackluster 333 yards passing to my recollection. There is no video indicating his shoulder is still injured but he has been utilizing a new, shorter, almost shot-put like throwing motion. Whether this was designed to shorten his throwing motion, preserve his shoulder health, or because the shoulder injury isn't healed yet is anyone's guess. In the Panthers final drive of the game, he had the opportunity to utilize a quarterback sneak on fourth and one near the goal line, but instead a trick play was called. This raised even more questions regarding the health of the quarterback’s foot. However, on an early fourth and one play he did run the ball to the outside for minimal gain. He has amassed -2 yards on five carries in two games to this point. It's anyone's guess as to what's going on, but I don't have direct video evidence of shoulder or foot issues.
