Even with the Patriots game pushed back to Monday it is still most likely that Newton will not play. Even though he did not have symptoms, by NFL protocol he needs multiple negative tests order to return. Typically someone who tests positive continues to stay positive even well past symptoms. The current NFL template for a player that test positive on Saturday is to miss 2 games prior to returning. This is what happened with Atlanta's first-round draft pick AJ Terrell when he missed week 3 and 4 who is now eligible to return week 5. The timeline just doesn't look like it will work out in their favor here, and they'll likely have to roll with Stidham or Hoyer.
