Cameron Johnson Injury: When Will Suns Forward Return From Meniscus Surgery?

The Suns announced that starting forward Cameron Johnson will miss 1-to-2 months after undergoing a meniscectomy to repair a torn right meniscus.

According to the Pro Basketball Docs, Johnson should be targeting a return at the end of the 2022 calendar year or early in 2023.

The 26-year-old suffered the right knee injury last Friday when he planted his foot attempting to change direction to corral a loose ball and his knee shifted.

Johnson's surgery was to remove the small damaged piece of meniscus, similar to that of Robert Williams III and Lonzo Ball.

This carries a much shorter recovery timetable than a meniscus repair, which has kept young stars James Wiseman and Jaren Jackson Jr., among others, out for extended period of time.

Johnson stepped into a starting spot after incumbent Jae Crowder expressed his desire to get out of his Phoenix contract.

The 2019 lottery pick averaged 14.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on 45.7% shooting and 44% from three, continuing his efficient scoring that pushed him into a key role last season.
