Washington Capitals legend Alexander Ovechkin is active for Game 1 of the NHL playoffs matchup against the Florida Panthers.
The 36-year-old suffered a left shoulder AC joint sprain on April 24, his last appearance before the playoffs.
The 8 days off should allow Ovechkin to play his usual minutes against the Panthers.
He carries a SIC score of 93 for the game, with the main downgrade being his age rather than the injury.
Ovechkin shouldn't have trouble playing effectively against the Panthers and will feature on his usual lines, including the power play line.
If he does have lingering pain, he can get a numbing injection before the game or between periods.
Panthers vs. Capitals Game 1 Odds
The Capitals, 44-26-12, are underdogs to the Panthers, 58-18-6, and the over/under is 6.5 goals, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Ovechkin's prop for shots on goal, 3.5, should provide value as he will be uninhibited.
