Cardinals LG Justin Pugh Leaves Game With Right Leg Injury, Worry For Torn Achilles

Justin Pugh, the Cardinals starting left guard, appeared to rupture his right Achilles tendon in the first quarter against the 49ers. He pulled up in the open field and then limped off. Pugh was deemed questionable to return with a calf injury. Given generic NFL injury reporting rules, it could include Achilles. By video, Pugh was pass blocking and took an odd step with no contact when he began to run downfield. He limped off the field and was carted to the locker room. Pugh will not return to the game and we expect an MRI to confirm the Achilles tendon rupture, but the best case would just be a calf strain. Either way, he is headed for a significant absence. If Achilles, then his season is over with surgery. Sean Harlow will assume the left guard duties.
