Cardinals Tight End Maxx Williams Suffers Serious Knee Injury, Season Likely Over

Maxx Williams, the Arizona Cardinals tight end, suffered a severe right knee injury in Week 5 against the 49ers and is likely out for the season. By video, Williams took a direct shot to his right knee on a tackle and we have worry for multiple ligament tears. At the very least, he has an LCL tear. The worst case scenario is the peroneal nerve is affected, which is evident by a foot drop. Williams was carted to the locker room and will likely undergo season-ending surgery. The 27-year-old had 15 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown coming into Week 5. Third-string tight end Demetrius Harris will play because second stringer Darrell Daniels is on the COVID reserve list.

Update

Williams has been ruled out with a knee injury.
