The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Tom Brady's return to Foxborough, but lost two key defenders Sunday night. Cornerback Carlton Davis III left the game just before halftime with a significant left quad strain. He was blocking on a punt when he suffered the injury in the open field. Muscle injuries are common in wet weather because players slip more than usual when trying to plant. The Buccaneers top corner was helped off the field, then carted to the locker room and ruled out shortly after. After the game, head coach Bruce Arians said Davis will be out a while with the injury. We would be surprised to see Davis back at any point in October and he will likely end up on IR with the Buccaneers already thin in the secondary. Cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Jamel Dean both missed Week 4 and strong safety Antoine Winfield Jr. suffered a concussion late in the game against the Patriots. Murphy-Bunting dislocated his elbow in Week 1 and is eligible to return Week 5, while Dean is dealing with a knee injury he suffered Week 3. This Sunday, Tampa Bay plays the Miami Dolphins, who will still be without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
