Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers 37-year-old forward, suffered a strained right hamstring Thursday night against the Clippers.
By video, Anthony suffered the injury on a pull-up jumper before halftime and did not return to the game.
Friday morning, Adrian Wojnarowski reported the team is optimistic that the hamstring strain isn't serious and he's expected to be day-to-day.
When the injury initially happened, the ProBasketballDocs projected he would likely be week-to-week.
Because he is not as mobile or dynamic as he used to be, the injury will likely keep him out multiple games.
The Lakers are already without Lebron James, who missed his fifth straight game dealing with swelling in his left knee.
Anthony is averaging 13.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1 assist while shooting 43.7% from the field and 39.2% from three.
Stanley Johnson will likely see increased playing time with both James and Anthony out.
Anthony Davis has average 25.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.9 assist in 16 games without James this season
