The Cavaliers upgraded center Jarrett Allen to questionable for Friday's play-in finale against the Hawks and the All-Star is expected to play, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Allen hasn't played since suffering a fractured left middle finger on March 6 and a return Friday would match our ProBasketballDocs projected recovery timeline of 4-to-6 weeks with a return at the beginning of the playoffs.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Allen still considers himself 50-50, but is determined to play despite the lingering pain.
The Cavaliers, who were 35-21 and tied for 2nd in the East on February 11, have gone 7-12 without Allen, notably 1-9 against teams who qualified for the East playoffs or play-in. The Cavs lost in Brooklyn on Tuesday, 115-108, in the first game of the play-in tournament.
The biggest drop off has been on the defensive end: Cleveland allowed 102.5 points on 23.1 assists and 44.2% shooting before the all-star break, but have allowed 113.3 points and 26.5 assists on 48.4% shooting post-break.
Allen, 23, averaged 16.1 points and 10.8 rebounds on 67.7% shooting in 56 games for the Cavaliers this season, and created a dominant front line with rookie Evan Mobley.
