Cavs Center Jarrett Allen Out Indefinitely With Finger Fracture

The Cavliers' injury bug continued Sunday night, this time knocking out a key big man for an unknown stretch.

All-Star center Jarrett Allen reportedly suffered a fracture finger on his left hand during the first quarter of Sunday night's win over the Toronto Raptors.

Allen was initially ruled out with a left quad contusion, but underwent and X-ray on his left hand which revealed the finger fracture.

Allen appeared to suffer the injury on a block with just under four minutes left in the first quarter. He rejected Thaddeus Young's hook shot with his right hand, then his left hand hit the bottom of the rim as he jumped.

Allen remained in the game, but left after getting kneed in the thigh before the end of the first quarter.

The 23-year-old is out indefinitely and his timeline for return will depend on the type of fracture.

While it's still unclear if Allen will need surgery, any surgical repair would have a four-to-six week recovery.

The best case scenario would be a "chip" fracture, which could be played through after a few missed games.

In the meantime, the injury leaves the Cavaliers without the 16.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks Allen was averaging this year.

Cleveland is also without Collin Sexton, Ricky Rubio, Rajon Rondo and Caris LeVert, although Rondo and LeVert will likely return in the next week or so.

Rookie-of-the-year candidate Evan Mobley is in line for more minutes along with veteran center Kevin Love.

At 37-27, the Cavaliers sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, one game behind Boston and three games ahead of Toronto.
