Jaylon Johnson has big question marks regarding his right shoulder heading into the NFL draft. The former University of Utah cornerback has had two previous surgeries to his shoulder and then a third surgery after the NFL combine. His surgeon reported a successful surgery and that he was progressing well six weeks out but the Laterjet procedure indicates a bony defect in his shoulder joint given that this is his third surgery it is not unusual. This recovery is more complicated than an ordinary labral tear and one has to keep in mind that this is the third operation on the same shoulder. Johnson is unlikely to be ready for the start of NFL training camp and could be an early question mark during his rookie campaign. Teams will have to factor these issues into his draft value heading into Thursday but Johnson has flashed his potential making a combine 102 tackles and 7 interceptions in his three year collegiate career. No question the the long-armed corner has had positive reviews from his surgeon but all "letters of recommendation" are when it comes to a job application. Expect the cornerback to fall to the second round but could find value for as he has the makings to become a quality NFL starter.
